The bleak landscape is suggesting a darker, moodier exposure to evoke more drama. The bright landscape and the diffused light through the background mountain and trees seems to be at odds with the initial bleakness. I probably would have processed to darken the mountain, although bringing in some local contrast there, would add more richness, grittiness, as well. My two cents… since you asked for suggestions. Your other work is very nice–esp loved the amber tree limbs and the costumed portraits.
